Meeting call to order

7:30 P.M. -- General Meeting Called to Order with Pledge of Allegiance.

Approval of Minutes

Motion by Koldjeski to accept the minutes from the General Meeting on May 12, 2008 as prepared, 2nd by Martenson. Motion voted, all in favor.

Announcements

There will be no meeting on Monday, June 9, 2008. Also, the Township office will be closed from June 10 for approx. two weeks.

New Business

  • Dennis Macheska - Dennis Macheska and David Bird, Ransom Township Supervisors, requested the backing of Newton Township concerning SR3005, River Road. This road runs through Ransom, Newton and Falls Townships and is owned by the State. The road is in deplorable condition and used mainly as an illegal dumping site. Macheska is in the process of getting funds to have the road cleaned up.
  • Abington Skate Park - Through correspondence received from Greg Pascale through Joe Sileo, the skate park would like to have the site plans signed so they can be recorded. Upon examination by the Board of Supervisors, they request that the nearest point of the skate park be no less than a minimum of 150 feet from the closest point of the Township. When the plans are resubmitted, the plans need to be sent to the Planning Commission first.

Standing Committee Reports

POSTED - Planning Commission

Road Master

Martenson reported that he met with Ned Slocum concerning work to be done on Valley View Drive. Martenson with meet with Rick Thompson soon to discuss the work. DPW to remove the chunks of blacktop on Columbus Circle and replace with modified until we are able to contract for patching. Martenson also requests the mowing of the Country Club Road and Forest Acres intersection. Miller to contact Ned Slocum to put together bid documents for the patching work to be done in the Township.

Planning Commission

Haan reviewed the minutes from the Planning Commission meeting on May 28, 2008 and reiterated that the Commission would like to see that it is required that plans show two perc sites. Koldjeski stated that Benton Township has that amendment to their ordinances and will obtain a copy for Sileo.

Receation Center

None.

Wage Tax Collector

Welter reported that we received correspondence from Scranton through Joe Sileo and that Scranton wants justification on why we should receive more than $3,000 per month allocation. Welter states we should be receiving approximately $7,000. Welter and Miller will comprise a list.

SAPA

None.

Abington COG

None.

Solicitor Report

Sileo reported that another letter was sent to Comcast to keep the dialog open about the concerns of Township residents. Scot Haan will need to revisit Milwaukee Cycle to check if the tires have been removed and if there is any effort in the dismantling of the bikes outside. The trailer should be removed and the three trees need to be replaced. Sileo also requested the Supervisors check their schedules for an executive session on either July 11 or July 12.

CEO Report

Haan reported that the trailer on Falls Road has been posted. He also visited the property of a resident on Port Royal Road that had concerns about water from their neighbor. The problem with the water is not from the neighbor but is from the above fields.

Public Input

  • None.

Bills were signed and discussed. Motion by Martenson to pay the bills as prepared, 2nd by Pardue. Motion voted, all in favor.

Being no further public input and discussion, Koldjeski motioned to adjourn the meeting, 2nd by Martenson. Motion voted, all in favor.
